1.In this semester I have used clay tools and wood carving tools. I have used the wood carving tools the most because in the object altering project I needed to carve holes into my wooden clogs.
2. My knowledge of tools has changed this semester because last semester I would have never thought to use a spoon. But this semester I learned that you can use a spoon to smooth out Pottery while it is still leather hard. Now I use this technique all the time in my pieces.
1. I still like using clay it's the material that I've used the most in this class and I still love it. I love making something with my hands and step by step seeing it's progression , like seeing if it cracked or seeing if it exploded or not. And if it didn't than it means I did a good job and then later when I'm done with the glaze I take it home and put it up on a shelf along with the others and I like to see my progression. I am still open to using different materials in the future but I think clay will still be my favorite.
2. The most difficult thing about this class is coming up with ideas of what to do for the projects. It helped when we did brainstorming exercises before the project but sometimes if an idea doesn't work I'll just ditch it and do some other less planned out idea. That works too but to prevent this in the future I'll just draw a bunch of sculpture ideas when I have free time, so when we have a project to do I can just flip through my sketchbook and pick one.
3. My least favorite material was wood. I carved some wood for a project once and by the end of the day my hands would hurt, I would have a couple cuts on my hands and saw dust up my nose so that was just not fun....
